Sir Edmund Keynton Williams KCB & KGS
Colonel of her Majesty's 80th Regiment of Foot
born in this Parish during the Curacy of his Father the
Revd Henry Williams late Vicar of Undy in this County
deceased Dec 7th 1830 aged 71

Being intended for Holy Orders he entered and resided at
Oriel College Oxford in the year 1798 but subsequently joined
the Expedition into Holland under the late Duke of York in the
year 1799: after a long and arduous service through the whole
of the Peninsular Campaign during which he gained high and
honourable distinction from his own Country as well as that of
Portugal he concluded his Military Career as General of the
Central Division of the Madras Army East Indies
